CBIKS Arctic/Alaska Hub
CBIKS’ research is fully community-based, developed from Indigenous community priorities and conducted in full partnership with community partners. CBIKS education components involve Indigenous community members and students at the preK–12, undergrad, and graduate level to train professionals who are skilled leaders in the ethical braiding of Indigenous and Western Sciences. CBIKS brings together arts and storytelling as a means to share scientific research with the public, Indigenous communities, and diverse audiences. This project is funded in part by the National Science Foundation Award Number 2243258.
The National Science Foundation’s CBIKS film workshop was held in October of 2025. See Stories led a film workshop in collaboration with the Anchorage Museum Education team and Alaska Pacific University faculty. The theme of the workshop was Indigenous knowledge and climate change, and students chose topics they were passionate about and interviewed Elders & community members. Watch the Film Workshop Stories to hear high school students’ perspectives.
