Bring Together Research Working in the Arctic
Co-creating Research for Just Arctic Future Infrastructure Transformations, Resilience, and Adaptation (CRAFT)
Arctic infrastructure faces significant challenges from rapid changes in the climate, socio-economic situation, and political environment. Its condition varies across regions and countries. In some places it is outdated and inadequate, making upgrades and maintenance expensive. In other places, there is a need for new roads, airstrips, Internet and utilities. Many communities are concerned about the negative impacts of infrastructure on cultures and ecosystems. This project brought together researchers working in the Arctic (e.g., Alaska, Norway, Greenland, and Canada), Indigenous and local communities and other stakeholders in a variety of venues.
