Weights & Climbing

Your fitness connection at the Atwood Center!

Want to get your workout fix? Come to the ground floor of the Atwood Center to check out our Fitness Center. The Fitness Center features free weights, weight-lifting machines, and a variety of cardio equipment. Or, you can try your hands (and feet) on our rock climbing wall!

Fitness Center (Weights & Climbing Wall)
Open:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 am – 6 pm
  • Tuesday and Friday 10 am – 4 pm

Closed: Weekends and Federal Holidays

Equipment Rentals (Atwood Center)

Open: Monday – Friday, 10:15 am – 5:45 pm

  • Everyone in the Recreation facilities on campus must be checked in at the front desk and have a current waiver on file.
  • No street shoes, food, chewing gum or beverages besides water on the pool deck, gymnasium, climbing wall or fitness center.
  • A parent or guardian must always supervise children under the age of 14.
  • A parent or guardian must have signed a waiver for their child if they are under the age of 18.
  • Please be respectful of our family-friendly environment.
  • Please read and obey all posted signs for the different recreation facilities on campus.
  • Anyone climbing, bouldering, or belaying must have participated in a climbing orientation.
  • You will fall, and injuries are common. Use spotters where appropriate and keep fall zones clear.
  • Do not climb above your ability or off-route to control and absorb the fall. Take the force of the fall to the pad – tuck and roll.
  • Be aware of fall zones and other climbers – do not climb above others or walk beneath other climbers.
  • APU does not allow top-out. Do not climb above the white line, on top of, or behind any climbing wall.
  • Keep harnesses, water bottles, and chalk bags off padded surfaces.
  • No food or beverages are allowed past the seating areas.
  • No street shoes are allowed on the padded surfaces.
  • All passes include the use of the pool, gymnasium, fitness center, Water Aerobics, and climbing wall.
  • Any unused 10-visit passes expire after two years from the date of purchase.
  • Each person using the facilities must be registered, agree to, and sign the APU Waiver of Liability.
  • Passes are non-transferable and must be purchased individually for each person.
  • Refunds are given on a case-by-case basis. If you are seeking a refund on a pass, please get in touch with a facility manager.
  • Family Semester passes are valid for four direct family members and the pass holder. Each additional family member is $10. Family members must have their full names on file. The family pass is non-transferable to other individuals who are not on file.
  • Senior passes are for individuals aged 62+. Child passes are for children under 16.
