Pell-eligible students can now attend Alaska Pacific University for little or no cost.
The APU Promise Tuition Grant (PTG) is a need-based aid program designed to assist Pell-eligible students. Eligible recipients of the PTG will receive a grant to help cover additional tuition expenses not otherwise satisfied by institutional scholarships and discounts, APU donor-funded scholarships, Federal Student Aid grants, and state scholarships and grants. Those who are eligible to receive the maximum Pell Grant will see no direct tuition expenses. Those who are eligible for a partial Pell Grant will see a significant reduction in remaining tuition expenses to be paid out-of-pocket or satisfied by other scholarships, grants, or loans. Private/external scholarships or grants you receive may be applied toward remaining costs without negatively impacting the need-based grant.
The 2018-19 tuition rate for traditional undergraduate programs is $20,350 for students enrolled in 12-18 credits per semester. The 2018-19 tuition rate for professional studies programs is $475 per credit hour.
To put it rather plainly, Pell-eligible students may now attend Alaska’s only private, non-profit, fully-accredited university for FREE or less than what it would cost to attend nearly any other public or private university in Alaska or the US. It simply does not get any better than that.
